OCR Level 1/Level 2 Cambridge National

Creative iMedia in the Media Industry

Creative iMedia in the Media Industry is the examined unit of the OCR Cambridge National in Creative iMedia. It covers the underpinning knowledge behind how digital media products are planned, designed, made and delivered — and the industry context in which all of that takes place.

Topics include the sectors, products and job roles that form the media industry; the factors that influence product design such as purpose, client requirements, audience and media codes; the planning documents and legal issues involved in pre-production; and the distribution platforms and file formats used to reach audiences. You'll develop the ability to analyse industry scenarios, apply knowledge of media concepts to client briefs, and make reasoned judgements about the choices producers face.

This is the unit assessed by external examination — worth 40% of the qualification — so thorough revision is essential.
